Sony’s debut console effort managed to sell staggering amount of 104.25 million copies before it was remove in the market. It was first home console to reach the 100 million copies sold, and still in the top 4 in terms of platform sales and only second to its successor, the PlayStation 2 in terms of home console.

About 38.94 million copies sold in North America, also it proves popular in Europe, sold about 36.91 million copies and in Japan it sold about 19.36 million copies. For the rest of the world about 9.04 million copies sold.
